A home for students to thrive

At Coast Flow, we support our community to thrive. We are a home for students to connect with their bodies, connect spiritually, and connect with each other in a beautiful space.

Meet the teachers

OUR VALUES

community

We value sweating together, knowing our neighbors, and supporting one another. We believe yoga is for everyone, and every body belongs here!

commitment

We value commitment to the practice; showing up in service of yourself to breathe, move, and release.

Joy

We value taking the time to develop self awareness and the ability to find the things in life that truly bring joy.

Studio info

Following the BC health orders, we no longer require our students to be fully vaccinated.

Sign up prior to attending class is recommended, though we are happy to support you through this step at the studio. If you are pre-registered for class, remember to confirm your attendance at our front desk kiosk.

We have equipment for you to use in the studio. Our bolsters, blocks and straps are available for use free of charge. Mats are for rent $2, though they are free with your monthly membership. If you are worried about sharing props, we have props for sale in our retail area.

As we are creating a sacred and clean space for our classes, we ask that all cell phones be turned off and stored away. We ask that no shoes be worn in the yoga room. Please make sure to remove your shoes and put them in the cubbies at the front entrance.

The mask mandate has been lifted. No masks are required in the yoga studio. To honor everyone’s comfort levels, please be mindful of the personal space of other students in the studio.

We value green living. As a result, we are trying to be a zero waste studio. You will find reusable cloths in the bathroom. Please support us by packing in and out any garbage.

There is a water station to fill your waterbottles. If you forgot to bring water, we have you covered. We have stainless steel cups for use. Please remember to return dirty cups after use.

We value community, and we want to give our students opportunities to connect. That is why we have installed a tea station for your enjoyment. Before or after class, grab a cup of tea. You are welcome to take your cup into the studio.

FAQs

Please arrive 20 minutes early for your very first class. This will give you enough time to acquaint yourself with the studio, and sign up. Signing up for the first time will require filling out our studio waivers. Feel free to email us in advance if you have more questions.

All of our classes are open to beginners. If you are brand new to yoga, you will want to try our gentle yoga, as well as our slow flow yoga classes. Yin yoga is also a good option for beginners, as the class moves slowly between postures.

Please bring comfortable clothing and an open mind. You are welcome to rent a yoga mat from the studio for $2. There is also a water station with cups if you forget your water bottle.

Both of our studios are equipped with change-rooms and washrooms. There are cubbies in the main yoga space to store your personal items. Please remember to turn off cell phones.

To begin, simply make an account here. You can book class directly from our schedule, or visit our purchase page, which has a detailed listing of all our membership packages, course series and events.

If you arrive late to class, we kindly request that you do your best not to disrupt our beginning centering. Please enter the studio quietly and be respectful as you settle into your practice. This allows all participants to maintain their focus and experience a peaceful atmosphere.

You may cancel your reservation up to 1 hour before class start time. No shows or late cancellation will be charged for the reserved place in class. For workshops and event series, please email info@coastflow.ca more than 3 days prior to the event for cancellation. No refunds less than 3 days prior to the event. Class series require a three week notice for a full refund.

To cancel a membership, we require a minimum of 72 hours’ notice. If you cancel your membership before completing the six-month commitment period, a cancellation fee of $75 will be applied. We understand that circumstances may change, and we aim to be flexible while maintaining the integrity of our membership agreements.

Follow these simple steps: Log in to your account, access “My Profile,” then navigate to “Passes and Memberships.” Once there, locate your membership after six months and toggle the auto-renew button to the “off” position. That’s it! You’re all set.

Gift cards are a beautiful way to support loved ones in prioritizing their self care. Purchase a gift card today. You are able to forward to someone as a gift. Apply the voucher number to your purchase, or bring it with you and we will process it for you in the studio.

To redeem your gifted gift card, simply log in to your account, navigate to “My Profile,” then select “Billing.” From there, you can enter the gift card number into the “Gift Card Redemption” section. Enjoy your credit and happy practicing!

Chelsea Riley

My yoga journey began in 2001, when I became one of the youngest certified Bikram yoga instructors. This incredible experience led me to the National Circus School of Canada where I graduated with a degree in aerial acrobatics. I toured as a professional aerialist throughout my 20s, but never lost my love for yoga. I trained at the Nosara Yoga institute in Costa Rica , other trainings include Bhakti flow yoga, prenatal yoga, chair yoga, certified health coach and Thai massage. Most recently, I taught yoga in San Francisco for 10 years and developed my signature aerial yoga series that I have shared across the globe.  I have always dreamed about opening my own yoga studio, to spread the healing energy of yoga, and to be of service. Welcome to the yoga journey! I am so pleased that you are here.

Working together to avoid cultural appropriation in yoga

We recognize that the spiritual practice of yoga was developed in India, and part of Indian culture and heritage. The practice of yoga consists of far more than hatha yoga poses. Here at Coast Flow we have a deep respect for yoga traditions and are committed to not engaging in cultural appropriation in our teaching practice, promotions, and marketing. We are also committed to offering accessible yoga that meets our students where they are at. We use music in our classes, to cultivate joy, and recognize that the eventual goal of asana is to reach a place of inner silence. If you have concerns about cultural appropriation at our studio, please email chelsea@coastflow.ca. Let us work together to decolonize yoga.

Working together to build an inclusive culture

We believe that yoga is for all people, whatever their body type, age, race, culture etc. We want everyone to feel safe and welcome here to find breath and refuge in an ever stressful world.

Inclusivity is very important to us, if you have an experience where you do not feel welcome at Coast Flow, we want to hear from you. It is in working together that we build a strong community, one of open communication and trust.

We are interested in diversifying our roster of instructors. If you would like to join our team, please inquire today.
